2nd Test: Rohit Sharma ton leads India to 300/6 on opening day

Chennai: Rohit Sharma slammed his seventh Test century (132 not out) as he led India to 300/6 in the opening day of the second Test vs England in Chennai.

At stumps, Rishabh Pant (33 not out) and Axar Patel (5 not out) were at the crease.

Rohit reached the triple-figure mark in 130 balls, laced with 14 fours and 2 sixes. It’s also his first Test hundred against England.

India reached 189/3 at Tea with Ajinkya Rahane (36 not out) accompanying Rohit in the middle.

Earlier, India reached 106/3 at lunch, Sharma was unbeaten on 80 runs while Ajinkya Rahane was batting on 5.

Shubman Gill (0), Virat Kohli (0) and Cheteshwar Pujara (21) were dismissed in the opening session.

India won the toss and elected to bat vs England in the second Test in Chennai.

Jasprit Bumrah, Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar were replaced by for Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

Patel makes his Test debut. The all-rounder received cap no.302 from skipper Virat Kohli.
