New Delhi: Former India football skipper Baichung Bhutia on Saturday said that India should target individual sports like China to win more medals.
Bhutia said that India realistically should target 14 medals in Olympics 2024 but winning 50 should be a long-term plan.
“Shooting is the biggest medal prospect at the Olympics. Badminton, Wrestling and archery are also huge prospects, he stated at the TV9 ‘What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit.
Praising Khelo India mission, Bhutia said “Khelo India is a great initiative. We can bring medals in archery, javelin, badminton, shooting in next Olympics.”
On private investment in sports, Bhutia said academies set up by sportspersons is what needs to be done going forward.
Talking about football, he said the talent of the local youths towards football is the way forward for the future of the Indian Football.
