Kalyani: Struggling East Bengal played out a 1-1 draw with Punjab FC in an I-League football match here on Thursday.
Punjab moved to 18 points from 12 matches to remain second while East Bengal rose to ninth spot with 12 points from 12 games.
The draw meant EB snapped a two-match losing streak.
Liberian forward Ansumana Kromah put the red and golds ahead in the ninth minute with a long range effort. Girik Khosla equalised in the 40th minute.
The match was tied at 1-1 at the Kalyani Stadium.
Kromah received the ball outside the box and beat Punjab shotstopper Limbu with a accurate strike.
A good build-ip play from Punjab helped them level the scores in the 40th minute.
Sergio Barboza’s diagonal delivery into the box was met by an onrushing Khosla who finished off the move with a volley ito the bottom corner past EB keeper Mirshad.
