Kolkata: The merged identity of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club and ATKFC was named ATK-Mohun Bagan FC at a board meeting on Friday.
The new entity will flaunt the traditional green and maroon of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club as the primary colours and sport the iconic boat and sail logo of the 131-year-old. The contracted players of India’s oldest football club would be inducted into the unified team, a joint statement said.
I-League champions Mohun Bagan and Indian Super League (ISL) winners ATK FC entered into a joint venture (JV) earlier this year.
ATK-Mohun Bagan Private Limited has been registered as a sporting entity with the ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The company has seven members, principal owner Sanjiv Goenka, co-owner Utsav Parekh, Mohun Bagan officials Srinjoy Bose and Debashish Dutta, and two ATK members Gautam Ray and Sanjeev Mehra and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on its board.
The two clubs signed a MOU in January 2020, paving the way for Mohun Bagan to play in the top-tier ISL from the 2020-21 season. ATK-Mohun Bagan will participate in the 2021 AFC Cup’s group stages, using Mohun Bagan’s I-League champions’ slot.

The company pledged to build a top notch football academy in Bengal, to harness the abundance of talent in the state as well as launch soccer schools across the country.
“My pronams to the many legends who have over decades contributed to the great legacy that Mohun Bagan is. I seek their blessings in this new journey. Mohun Bagan has been close to my heart since childhood,” Goenka said.
“I have had the honour to watch the Green and Maroon play some of their best football. We respect legacy and have retained the same jersey which generations down the line have embraced, adored and loved. My dream is to establish ATK Mohun Bagan as a world class team which earns its place in the international circuit.”
Ganguly, who has played local cricket for Mohun Bagan, said: “I salute the coming together of ATK and Mohun Bagan. Together the brand name ATK Mohun Bagan will create history.”
