From New Delhi to Manchester, sportspersons celebrate International Yoga Day

New Delhi: The International Day of Yoga came into being in 2015 following its inception at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.

The ancient practice has picked up a boom in the recent past and is being practiced globally.

Prime Minister , Narendra Modi in his 2014 UN address, suggested the date of June 21. ‘Yoga for Humanity’ is the theme for the International Day of Yoga 2022.

Boxer Nikhat Zareen urged her fans to practice Yoga.

Harbhajan Singh said, “Yoga can be very peaceful and relaxing. On the occasion of #InternationalDayofYoga, I urge everyone to practise Yoga to keep themselves physically fit and mentally strong.”


Former India captain Mithali Raj took to Twitter and said: “A happy soul resides in a healthy body and yoga helps us achieve both. A very happy International Yoga Day to all of you.”
