Antigua: West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard has hit six sixes in an over and joined the likes of South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs and Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh to achieve this feat in international cricket as the Windies cruised to a four-wicket win in the opening match of the three-game series vs Sri Lanka.

Pollard who is the captain of the West Indies side won the toss and opt to bowl first.

Sri Lanka managed to post 131/9. Chasing the total, West Indies completed the task in the 14th over.

Lanka bowler Akila Dananjaya took a hat-trick in this very match by dismissing Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran.

But Pollard then smacked him for huge sixes at the end of power play.

Team India’s Yuvraj Singh achieved the feat vs England in 2007. Herschelle Gibbs was the next when he hit six sixes vs Netherlands in 2007.

It was the fourth hat-trick for Sri Lanka in T20 cricket after Thisara Perera against India in February 2016 and the two owned by Lasith Malinga, who claimed on against Bangladesh in April 2017, and took four wickets in four balls against New Zealand in September 2019.

Overall, there have now been 14 hat-tricks in T20 international cricket, and this was the first since Ashton Agar’s effort against South Africa in Johannesburg just over 12 months ago.
